Rotafab is a fabrication and machining business servicing multiple clients across oil and gas, energy, and marine industries. Rotafab employs 60 to 65 full time and casual employees, the company structure is three separate departments being welding fabrication and pipe spooling, Machine Shop and mechanical equipment repair, and industrial coating and abrasive blasting services. These three departments each have supervision and shop floor foreman controlling the workflow and production along with a dedicated quality control and human resource department through to administration and senior management. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for running the machining and fitting department working with our clients in the oil, gas and energy sectors. The team consists of 10-15 employees working under the Machine Shop Supervisor. Our Machining department operates inline with ISO accreditation and specialises in the design, manufacturing, and repair of components for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with current and potential stakeholders.
- Complete quotes and data reports for clients.
- Evaluating and refining optimal repair approaches in alignment with client requirements.
- Procurement of materials from suppliers.
- Ensure the workshop operates in line with ISO accreditations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies and promote a culture of safety among team members.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and equipment documentation.
- Run safety toolbox for team to discuss current/upcoming jobs, objectives, and safety.
- Attend and participate in management meetings and yearly planning.
- Develop objectives and goals for your department to assist in employee development, product quality and workshop efficiency.
- Ensure the workshop is operating efficiently and safely. Prioritising the wellbeing of your employees and the quality of your product.
- Recruitment and training of new employees and apprentices.
Requirements:
- Qualified trade in machining or fitting and turning.
- Previous experience in a supervisor or managing role.
- Fine tolerance mechanical fitting experience on rotating equipment.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Strong customer interface expertise.
- Exceptional leadership abilities, adept at guiding and motivating teams to achieve objectives with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and time management skills.
- Drivers license.
