SalaryPump & Valve Engineering specialise in the repair of industrial pumps and valves for the mining and Alumina refining industries.
An opportunity is available for an experienced 1st Class machinist to join our team.
A large percentage of Pump & Valve Engineering’s business is dictated by the need to regularly produce fully repaired industrial valves for our customers to meet their regular outage requirements. The machining involved as part of the repair of these valves is a significant component of this repair work.
Another large percentage of Pump & Valve Engineering’s business is repairing industrial pump casings. Again, the machining involved as part of the repair of these pump casings is a significant component of this repair work.
The successful candidate would be able to operate a manual lathe and a manual vertical borer. The manual lathe has a 1000mm chuck and 3000mm bed. The manual vertical borer has 2000mm chuck. Experience machining hard materials to accurate sizes would be an advantage. Occasionally you might need to operate other smaller machines.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Qualifications and experience in manual machining on lathes and/or vertical borers.
- Ability to measure sizes with accuracy and consistency.
- Able to read and interpret drawings.
- Experience using overhead cranes.
- Good communications skills.
- The ability to work well with others.
- Good time management skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Desire to learn.
Pump & Valve Engineering have a low turn-over of staff. We have quite a number of employees eligible for long service leave. So we like to think that the low staff turn-over is an indication that the working conditions are pretty good.
The work is very regular and very reliable. This means you would have regular work with regular hours. Once you are up to speed with the type of work we would like you to do, there would be regular overtime available if that is what you are looking for.
