IES is seeking an experienced Machinist or Fitter/Machinist to support further commercialization of a range of existing and in-development products. The role reports directly to the Managing Director and is part of a small, but growing, team based both in Dunsborough and remotely in other parts of Australia.
The ideal candidate will enjoy a challenge and working in a close-knit team developing tools and processes that have never been achieved before for the manufacture of our product lines. Ability to develop and follow procedures and processes, then input into continued innovation and optimization is essential. Experience with both product line machining and R&D/bespoke high-end component machining would be preferred.
The responsibilities for this role include:
• Ensuring, above all, that safety and quality are upheld as key on a continual basis in the workshop
• Precision machining and fitting of a variety of different R&D tools, rigs and products.
• Precision machining of RT-Bolts using both manual and CNC lathes. Running the RT-EDM automated manufacturing machine for production lots of bolts and fasteners.
• Work with the IES engineers to develop and problem solve world leading manufacturing processes using unique automated systems and equipment, providing essential input to that process.
• Assist the IES engineers to ensure appropriate drawings, fabrication tolerances and machining processes are used and recorded at all times.
• Programming and use of CNC lathes and automated loading systems for lot runs on RT-Bolts and RT-Bolt gauge bodies and probes.
• Fitting complex automated systems for the automated manufacturing centers constructed in-house for the manufacture of RT-Bolt and other under-development commercial products.
• Maintenance and care of workshop equipment being used
Requirements – the position requires the following minimum qualifications:
• Trade qualified Machinist or fitter/ machinist with 6+ years experience in a relevant machine shop position, showing progression from manual machining to higher level roles
• Precision machining experience to high tolerances, including manual and CNC lathe and mills/machine centers
• Applicants must be permanent residents and authorized to work in Australia.
• Applicants must have a can-do, positive attitude, with the ability to problem solve and optimize machining and fabrication processes while being able to work both autonomously and with other machine shop staff and engineers.
• Previous experience with difficult or unique machining problems and demonstrated ability to solve those problems in a precise, safe, cost-effective manner is essential.
• Strong work ethic, punctuality and reliability, and efficiency
The following would be considered beneficial:
• Previous experience using Electro-Discharge Machining (EDM)
• Experience dealing with Oil & Gas or Mining client requirements
• ISO 9001 compliance and quality control experience
The position is full time and based in Dunsborough, Western Australia. Some travel to client sites or other global sites during expansion of the RT-Bolt manufacturing across the world may be necessary.
