Laverton P-12 College resides within the western suburbs of Melbourne in the local area of Hobson's Bay. The College is a merged school operating on the site of the former Laverton Secondary College. It opened in 2008 with new buildings first occupied in 2009, however, it was not until mid-2011 that all levels of the College were operational. The school is comprised of seven permanent buildings and two relocatable buildings, providing a range of specialised learning spaces, including a gymnasium, performing arts centre, instrumental music rooms, a state of the art food technology kitchen and cafe, practical science rooms, technology and engineering spaces, and a well-resourced College library. The College has also prioritised developing the grounds including, building a sports field, volleyball court and an undercover multipurpose field. Laverton P-12 College is modern, well- resourced and inviting school.
In 2024, the College has an enrolment of over 700 students across Foundation to Year 12. The community comprises of diverse family backgrounds, with 48% of students speaking languages other than English at home and a high proportion of students coming from the Karen, Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern communities. The College Student Family Occupation (SFO) of .74 indicates a high number of students come from disadvantaged economic backgrounds. While the Student Family Occupation and Education (SFOE) is slightly lower at 0.66, indicating higher circumstances known to make a difference in student learning. The college is supported in 2023 by the Differentiated School Support Initiative.
The College staffing profile consists of approximately 100 full time and part time equivalent staff; including 4 Principal class, 6 Leading Teachers, 3 Learning Specialists, 54 teachers, 28 Education Support Staff and 2 Paraprofessionals. The College has invested heavily in building the professional knowledge of our staff and working collaboratively in teams to support the needs of our students. All teachers plan within a structured Teaching and Learning Cycle and this is enhanced with teachers engaging in PLT Inquiry Cycles informed by student needs across cohorts.

At Laverton P-12 College we offer a broad curriculum that is focused on the individual. Our talented and friendly staff are caring and committed people, who create a nurturing environment for students to strive. We encourage our friendly and welcoming community to become involved in school activities and student learning, building solid relationship between the school, home, community and each student. Furthermore, Laverton P-12 College has continued to dedicate considerable resources into music initiatives such as the College Instrumental Music program and the Crashendo Music Project. Close to 100 a students access these programs and students learn a range of strings, woodwind and percussion instruments. At the senior end of the school, the college offers VCE, VET and VCAL, with the school facilitating VET Engineering and Hospitality for the Hobson Bay Cluster.
