The role
In this role you will be working Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm. In a fast-paced food manufacturing environment undertaking a variety of tasks which range from general maintenance through to preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and problem solving. Performing all maintenance and repairs with a high regard for safety. You will assist in complete changeovers and preparing lines for production.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Completing light electrical repairs
- Fabrication- TIG welding
- Assist in the day to day efficient running of plant equipment
- Maintenance of plant and equipment including preventative maintenance
- Diagnostics and fault finding
- Process improvement of plant and equipment
- Screw and belt conveyors
- Boiler and steam equipment
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
- Operate and service machinery
- Provide technical support to the production team
- Promote and adhere to Quality Assurance (SQF), WHS, GMP and HACCP guidelines
- Attend to and assist with unplanned breakdowns with urgency to ensure production resumes in a timely manner.
- Assist with equipment start-up at beginning of production and after changeover until set run rates and quality levels are achieved.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Maintain adequate spare parts as required and inform management of any shortfalls on spare parts.
- Actively seek ways to keep all waste to a minimum.
- Ensure compliance with safety.
- Follow instructions effectively and coordinate all activities with supervisor and production office.
- Maintain the highest housekeeping standards on production floor and in machine shop.
- Ensure all work areas / machines are clean at the end of each repair or maintenance job.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Have good communication skills.
- Be motivated with a good work ethic and a keen interest to learn.
Experience
- Trade Qualified with a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a similar role in food or FMCG
- Hands on with an enthusiastic attitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Work autonomously and be a self-starter
- Forklift licence is an advantage
- Must have EWP ticket or be willing to obtain
- Experience in minor fabrications and welding - TIG (preferred)
- Electrical Licenses an advantage
- Excellent mechanical aptitude required - Hydraulics, pneumatics and conveyor systems
The following will be highly regarded:
- Knowledge of GMP/Food standards.
- Experience in the milling industry.
- An understanding of pasteurisation processes.
- Experience with pneumatics, setting up check weighers and metal detectors.
- Excellent understand of coding/printing systems and machinery. ie Tronic Video jets, capping machines, fillers and labellers.
