Guala Closures Australia is the market leader in the manufacture of a wide range of aluminium closures for the wine, food and beverage industries. The team pride themselves on the quality of their brand and the high level of service they provide to their customers.
An outstanding opportunity exists for a proven Fitter to work at our high speed, batch process manufacturing facility in West Footscray. As part of a 24 hour operation, it is imperative that all maintenance staff are available for emergency call out when required.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this is a key role to drive operational improvements by enhancing our engineering capability. You will provide reactive assistance for breakdowns to minimise equipment downtime along with preventative maintenance of the machinery and project work to meet and improve our operational KPI’s within a safe working environment.
The role:
- Maintaining high speed lines, conveyors, pumps, bearings, motors, gearboxes, chains, etc. covering printing, metal presses, ovens and pneumatic equipment
- Assist commissioning of new equipment
- Working with the production team to ensure equipment is running efficiently with minimal downtime
- Accurately completing documentation for internal process compliance
- Consistency in following safe systems of work and safe operating procedures
You will need to have:
- Trade qualified fitter and turner
- Excellent troubleshooting / diagnostic skills
- Process improvement and preventative maintenance experience
- Forklift licence an advantage
- Great people skills and attitude, be motivated and have the ability to communicate effectively
- Strong operational and planning skills with high level attention to detail
- Positive safety and housekeeping behaviors
- The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment, want the responsibility and accountability
Ideally, you will have previous experience in metal paint, rolling and/or metal tube/can manufacturing. You must have significant experience in a similar role in a high speed, automated manufacturing environment.
