The Role - PPT / 4 days per week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at our Kildare Facility and 1 day per week at the Retirement Living Units.

Reporting to the Area Maintenance Supervisor, an exciting opportunity has risen for a Maintenance Officer / Handy Man for our Maroubra facility, across our facilities and independent living units.

The successful candidate will ensure that all tasks are undertaken to support service delivery outcomes including the maintenance of the property and land-based assets, plant, and equipment.  

  • You will be responsible in providing basic general maintenance repairs (electrical & plumbing, carpentry and building)
  • You will also be providing gardening maintenance tasks (sweeping, hosing, keeping the outside of buildings clean and tidy, mowing lawns, hedging and general garden maintenance)
  • Will communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families, being empathetic and understanding of the needs of aged residents.

Requirements:

  • Trade qualification (desirable)
  • Current clean driver's license
  • Previous experience in either building, fitter and turner, welder or plumber (desirable)
  • Experience as a Maintenance Person or Handy Man/Women in Aged Care or similar industry (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and within a wider team of stakeholders
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a residential care setting
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationship with residents and/or families/representatives
  • Availability to work 3 days per week.
