We provide a home, not just a house where the home is the foundation from which our clients realise that their best life is possible and can map their journey to achieve it. Our main objective is to provide and manage secure, sustainable housing for people on low to moderate incomes who would otherwise struggle to find accommodation and for disadvantaged people who need support in order to maintain independent living.


About You

Primary Purpose

In the role of Maintenance Officer, you will play a vital part in creating a home that residents love by maintaining facility standards at the highest level.

This dynamic position offers diverse daily challenges, ranging from hands-on repairs and maintenance to developing maintenance plans and reporting.

While the tasks may vary, your unwavering commitment remains the same – ensuring the well-being and comfort of our residents.


All roles within Argyle Housing are to be performed under the principle of “One Argyle” and with a commitment to client service delivery fostering the approach of ‘no wrong door’.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Safe and Sustainable Maintenance

  • Execute and oversee general repairs and maintenance of the premises to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for Argyle Housing’s residents.
  • Prioritize the safety and sustainability of maintenance practices, adhering to industry standards and best practices Ensure that all contractors and suppliers engaged by Argyle Housing comply with the relevant WHS standards.

Effective communication

  • Communicate with empathy and understanding when interacting with residents and staff recognizing the unique needs and concerns of Argyle Housing’s residents.
  • Consult and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including Tenancy Officers, Government and approved contractors and suppliers to facilitate repairs or improvements, ensuring efficient communication and coordination.
  • Foster an environment of open and transparent communication to address concerns and provide updates on maintenance activities.

Compliance with Corporate Standards and Work Health and Safety

  • Ensure that all maintenance work meets or exceeds Argyle Housing’s standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Working within the Asset Management Plan.
  • Comply with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Identify and report on risk.

Timely Maintenance Tasks

  • Undertake building and property maintenance tasks promptly and efficiently, whether they are part of routine maintenance, planned improvements, or reactive responses to urgent issues.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to address and resolve maintenance concerns to minimize disruptions to residents' daily lives.

A Tool of Trade car is included for work purposes.


Selection Criteria/Essential Skills - To ensure success in this position, you must have:

  • A relevant building or trade qualification
  • Display exceptional maintenance and handy-person skills with proven experience in building and property maintenance.
  • Understanding of WHS regulations and safety procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, with an empathetic and patient approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Experience in evaluating, engaging, and managing contractors and suppliers for maintenance works and upgrade activities is essential.
  • Exhibit good organisational skills with the experience in planning and managing job allocations to strict deadlines.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of property management databases and computer software programs such as Microsoft excel and word.
  • Current/valid White Card
  • Current Australian driver licence
