Our Environment
St Virgil’s College is a Kindergarten to Year 12 school for boys, founded in 1911 and conducted by Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA). The aim of the College is to support parents in educating their sons within the Catholic tradition and the spirit of Edmund Rice.
The St Virgil’s Junior School (Kindergarten to 6) is located in Patrick Street, Hobart, adjacent to St Mary’s Cathedral. The secondary campus (Year 7 to 11) is situated on an expansive property at Austins Ferry.
The College is seeking experienced and motivated staff to work as part of a team to support the expansion of current operations.
All roles within the College are informed by the mission of a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition.
The Job
The Maintenance Officer role is responsible for all aspects of the maintenance and cleanliness and presentation of school grounds at our the Senior Campus. There will be also involvement with preparing and packing up of school events.
This role is part of the Property Services team.
The position will need to exhibit a personal commitment to the mission and vision of St Virgil's College and work within the confines of Commonwealth Privacy legislation.

Key Selection Criteria
The Key Selection Criteria that will be used to select the successful applicant include:
- Capability and experience with maintenance work/cleaning.
- Knowledge and experience with handling hand power tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team to meet the demands of Property Services team.
- Able to communicate positively and effectively with the team, College staff and the wider school community.
- Effective literacy and numeracy skills and use of IT systems.
- Experience in a school environment will be desirable, but not essential.
- Understanding and demonstrated commitment to the Catholic and EREA philosophy and ethos of education.
Personal Qualities
- Friendly, positive manner and disposition who has the ability to work in an environment with students.
- Self-motivated and uses initiative
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Able to problem solve and to work as part of a team.
