The Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, committed and customer service focused Maintenance Officer/Handyman to join our team at The Grove, in the charming suburb of Ngunnawal in ACT. This vibrant retirement community offers a supportive and friendly environment, with a range of amenities available to enhance your living experience of our residents. 

As a Maintenance Officer at Keyton you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our properties by undertaking maintenance activities and providing excellent customer service to our residents. We are seeking a proactive individual with strong communication skills, strong computer skills and a knack for problem-solving.

The successful candidate will support the close-knit team on a fulltime basis, from Monday to Friday. No weekend work!

Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include;

  • Coordinating and undertaking maintenance[KB1]  tasks, repairs, and inspections for residential properties
  • Assisting with basic handyperson tasks as needed, including minor repairs and installations
  • Implementing and adhering to EHS procedures, ensuring safety of all residents, visitors and contractors
  • Communicating effectively with residents to address maintenance requests promptly and efficiently
  • Collaborating with external contractors to ensure timely completion of work orders.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and update databases accordingly
  • Assisting with various Adhoc duties where required, as directed by the Village Manager

About You

The successful applicant will have demonstrated competence as a maintenance assistant, gardener, tradesperson or trade assistant or experience in a similar role, as well as:

  • Be organised and able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understanding of machinery use and tools required for the job
  • A current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Computer literate e.g. intermediate/basic knowledge with using Excel, Word, Outlook, Apps
  • The ability to take initiative and be pro-active
  • The ability to work individually and in a team
  • A current Australian driver’s licence

Relevant internal training and inductions will be provided to the successful candidate on-site.

Please note: The successful applicant must complete a Police Check & will be required to receive an annual flu vaccination between the months of April-October, with supporting documentation prior to joining. For selected roles, pre-employment medical assessments will also be required prior to any employment offers being made.
