Qualifications & experience
- Relevant trade experience across any area stated in the position description.
- Ability to be flexible and understanding of the need to multi-task.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated experience working both individually and as part of a team, escalating issues when needed.
- Proven ability to prioritize own workload, to set priorities and perform tasks within agreed timeframes whilst ensuring competitive deadlines are met.
- A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety regulations as they relate to employment.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Painting, Lock repairs, Carpentry, Plumbing (low level maintenance), Tiling, Concreting
- Grounds o Preparing, planting, and monitoring new and existing gardens. Formative pruning of shrubs and plants. Mowing and edging of college lawns. Control of garden weeds and insect pests. Controlling the irrigation of plants. Liaising with ANU gardener.
- Ensure that the areas around the buildings are kept clean and tidy. Carry out general housekeeping duties around the workshop and after completed tasks. Rubbish removal from bin rooms, courtyards and outdoor areas. Identify and report all areas requiring cleaning on an ad hoc basis.
- Consultation with the Operations Manager re contractor requirements. Monitor workshop stock and equipment, replace items within your delegations and consult with the Operations Manager for major purchases. Other ad hoc duties as required by the Operations Manager or Head of College.
- Be empathetic of the Catholic mission of the College. Provide witness to the College and its community and model a collaborative style of behavior that reflects Christian values.
- Strategic Planning, Policy and Development of the College. Participate in a range of College activities including the College Functions, staff meetings and internal student gatherings. Ensure that compliance is met with the College Code of Conduct.
- Industrial Relations and Legal Compliance. Support the implementation of Work Health & Safety regulations and Child Protection Legislation within appropriate areas in the College. Report and rectify any identified Work Health & Safety issues in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
- Assist emergency services in the event of a fire alarm.
- Display a willingness to undertake PD opportunities as they arise
- The position requires the person to be available afterhours to assist in case of an emergency in the absence of the Operations Manager.
