Part-time at 32.5 hours p/week
Alternating weekly shifts of 7am-2pm, and 12pm-7pm

INTO Newcastle are seeking a dependable and experienced Maintenance Operative to provide a dedicated maintenance support service for the INTO academic and accommodation buildings, including the ongoing maintenance of both mechanical and electrical equipment.
You will assist the Head of Facilities and Accommodation to ensure the centre provides a safe operating environment.
As a Maintenance Operative, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety, functionality and appearance of our premises.
Your key responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day to day running of heating and lighting, plant rooms, boilers, air conditioning, lifts, fire, security and alarm systems within the INTO buildings.
- You will manage and work with multi disciplined contractors.
- Maintenance and repair of systems not covered by maintenance contracts providing a thought out and cost effective solution.
- You will develop a close working relationship with Newcastle University estates department and the University Security Manager.
- Work within Health and safety guidelines maintaining appropriate records.
- Oversee external contractors on site and ensure safe working practises are adhered to.
About you:
This will be a multi-skilled, generic maintenance role with the expectation that you have basic electrical knowledge and are competent in the ability to work safely.
If you have worked in either worked in student accommodation or a hospitality environment previously, this would be good - but not essential.
Other aspects of the role is that you will be on-call, shared with another person, and there will be the requirement to work weekends as required by the business needs.

In 2019-20, the centre hosted over 1,000 students from over 50 different countries.
