Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) provides an essential service, connecting regional Australia to national and international markets as a specialist port catering to boutique and diverse operations. MWPA operates seven (7) commercial berths and critical marine and land assets which enables the facilitation of trade for the Mid West region, exporting a variety of products including iron ore, grains, mineral sands, non-mineral sands and mineral concentrates. The Port also imports fuel, fertiliser and break bulk cargo. The Port of Geraldton also encompasses the Geraldton Fishing Boat Harbour (FBH), home to Geraldton’s fishing industry. About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Maintenance Services, the Maintenance Superintendent is to be committed to developing and achieving MWPA’s integrated business objectives that deliver value to our stakeholders and to ensure effective management systems are in place and implemented in accordance with legislative and relevant Standards.
The role is required to work collaboratively and in conjunction with the Electrical Superintendent to support the Manager Maintenance Services in achieving strategic leadership in the areas of Infrastructure and Asset Maintenance Management.
The role is accountable for ensuring the safe operational availability and maintenance of all MWPA’s non-electrical infrastructure.
About You
Key Qualifications and experience (Selection Criteria items to be addressed in Covering Letter):
Essential:
- Mechanical Trade with at least 6 years post trade experience in mining or heavy industry
- Experience with managing minor mechanical and fabrication projects.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a mining, port, or marine environment.
- Proven success in planning, coordinating activities and supervision of multi discipline staff.
- Experience in managing concurrent activities and conflicting priorities.
- Understanding of the new WHS legislation
- Experience with heavy industry Computerised Maintenance Management System CMMS.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and deliver change management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high level decision making and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational, time, task, and priority management; and
- Strong computer literacy (Microsoft suite, email, internet, computer aided project management systems, stock control & order systems).
Desirable:
- MWPA or Arc Infrastructure Track Access Permit (TAP) or ability to obtain.
- Diploma of Project Management or/ similar.
- Frontline or similar leadership qualification.
- Dual trade (Fitter/ Fabrication).
