The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority responsible to the Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water.
GAWB’s purpose is to supply water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Those consumers comprise major industries, power generating organisations, and the Gladstone Regional Council.
GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants and takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs.
About the Position
Working with the Maintenance team, the Maintenance Supervisor facilitates the daily operations associated with the ongoing planned, preventative, and reactive operational and maintenance works of GAWB’s infrastructure assets, focusing on water quality and supply equipment.
As the supervisor, you will be responsible for supervision and management of the Maintenance team including Mechanical Fitters and Electrical and Instrument Technicians to deliver effective and compliant operational and maintenance activities resulting in minimum downtime and maximum productivity. Additionally, the supervisor provides electrical input into projects and responsible for supervision and management of contractors as required. A QLD Electrical Fitter Mechanic qualification is required for this role.
Your specific responsibilities include:
- Provide a resourcing program to service, repair and respond to failures of the mechanical and electrical plant within the bulk water supply and water treatment operations.
- Management of the Maintenance Team and contracted maintenance services to execute works and deliver the best outcomes for GAWB within the asset management framework and in accordance with ISO55001 ensuring all maintenance work activities are undertaken.
- Maintain and manage data within the current Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure the accuracy of asset information and to assist with the development and implementation of the CMMS Systems and Procedures and Asset Maintenance Module.
- Champion and lead the maintenance team to optimal utilisation of asset management system and mobile computing.
- Assist with all maintenance work activities when required.
- Provide competent technical advice and assistance as required, including but not limited to:
- Development and implementation of efficient maintenance practices and procedures
- Assistance with budget and financial management for maintenance expenditure
- Preparation and review of quotes and estimates for maintenance work
- Preparation of technical scopes of work for maintenance and related project work.
- The position holds the Qualified Technical Person and Qualified Businessperson roles of GAWB''s Electrical contractor license providing electrical support and assistance as required within the boundaries of the Electrical contractor License and Queensland Electrical Safety Acts, Regulations and Standards.
- Be willing to participate in the On-Call roster and respond to afterhours plant and equipment failures
The successful applicant will possess the following:
Essential Qualification / License
- Electrical Trade qualifications– QLD Electrical Fitter / Mechanic or reciprocal electrical license
- Instrumentation Trade qualifications – Certificate III or IV Instrumentation
- Current valid “C” class driver’s license (Manual)
- Have or the ability to attain QLD Electrical Contractors License QTP and QBP certification.
- High Voltage (HV) experience / certificate
Essential Experience / Capabilities
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with high focus on Workplace Health and Safety and Risk Management
- Demonstrated experience with Root Cause Analysis
- Demonstrated experience in Project and Contractor Management
- Proficient in the use of computer applications of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Office 365, SharePoint
- Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to manage and prioritise a wide range of tasks
- Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience
Desirable
- Diploma in relevant engineering discipline
- Industrial pump experience
- Experience in PLC programming and problem diagnostics / fault finding
Preference will be given to applicants who also have:
- Knowledge of water supply operation and maintenance practices, procedure and techniques and equipment.
