Situated on 2,000ha, the JBS Riverina Beef plant is a part of the Riverina integrated farming, feedlot and processing operation. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in the southern hemisphere. Based just outside Yanco, between the popular townships of Leeton and Narrandera in southern NSW. Being in the heart of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation district (or Riverina region), ensures the ability to source high quality feeder cattle and grain to produce premium beef. The plant employs approximately 420 people with a current processing capacity of 600 head of cattle per day, operating 5 days per week.
About the Role
Our Riverina Plant is currently recruiting an experienced Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical) to join the team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of mechanical maintenance and installation projects, as well as general maintenance supervision activities associated with the operations of a fast-paced manufacturing facility. This position is hands on and will require you to lead and develop the other maintenance team members.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing maintenance plans
- Monitoring safe working practices in accordance with the workplace health and safety act as well as JBS policies and procedures
- Taking a proactive role in understanding the root causes of downtime and developing effective solutions
- Ensuring immediate action is taken on breakdowns
- Liaising with the Plant Engineer and Maintenance Planner
- Completing work orders, work plans, technical information, inspection reports, etc.
- Ensuring all mechanical documentation and schematics are securely retained, updated and maintained
- Ensuring all program all statutory requirements are met

About You
- Fitter and Turner trade qualifications and post-trade experience
- Experience in pneumatics & hydraulics, refrigeration and steam
- Ability to provide leadership guidance and direction to maintenance personnel, including contractor supervision
- Previous experience in maintenance/repair in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Effective and efficient fault finding and diagnostic skills
- A thorough understanding of maintenance work management practices
- Understanding of work planning and scheduling procedures
- Sound computer skills
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of WHS regulations/procedures
- Confined Space and BA Competence highly desired
