Purpose of the role:
The purpose of the role is to lead commercial management of Major Projects including leading the contract and commercial negotiation during Major Project transactions to ensure value for money is achieved while mitigating commercial risk by applying dispute avoidance strategies and lessons learns on projects.
This role will report to Senior Commercial Manager and will work in collaboration with the Major Projects Project Teams and be the first point of call for all commercial matters within the allocated Major Projects.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for the contract and commercial management of allocated Major Projects which includes working closely with the Major Projects team and the rest of the business to ensure Major Projects deliver their intended benefits and key business priorities are met.
You will:
- Manage contract development for Major Projects during transaction period, lead commercial work stream during transaction, review scope of work and other contract documents for consistency and remove ambiguity from contractual documents.
- Manage review project requirements to confirm adequate level of completion, liaising with necessary departments and business units.
- Lead commercial/contract negotiation prior signing the contract.
- Lead commercial outcome of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process.
- Lead commercial management of Major Projects including payment, Compensation Event, contract correspondences.
- Manage contract close out and final account process.
- Resolving supplier performance matters and incidents, participation in supplier management and development forums.

Who are we looking for?
Experience:
- 10+ years’ contract and commercial management experience in infrastructure and construction projects in a large complex organisation,
- Relevant work experience for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors in addition to client side is desirable,
- Strong understanding of construction transaction and delivery models,
- Demonstrated experience in partnering with the business in effective contract and commercial management strategies,
- Ability to partner closely with the business while maintaining a degree of functional independence.
Skills:
- Strong commercial acumen and strong understanding of construction law,
- Strong stakeholder management skills with multiple stakeholders and in particular external suppliers,
- Strong communication skill with ability to convene complex commercial matters through reports and presentations,
- Developed management and leadership capability for managing the team,
- Strong teamwork capability with appreciation of intricacies of matrix organisations.
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Law, Engineering, or Business or experience deemed equivalent.
- Professional MRICs or equivalent qualification.
