Sydney Water is a state-owned statutory corporation that provides potable drinking water, wastewater and some stormwater services to Greater Metropolitan Sydney, Illawarra and Blue Mountains regions. It is Australia's largest water utility and by 2050, the business will service another 2,000,000 people. To enable this growth in an integrated and sustainable way, Sydney Water will invest $34 billion over the next 10 years to renew existing assets, deliver new investments in water supply, recycled water, stormwater and waterway management and renewable sources of energy.
In the context of a multi-million-dollar multiple projects portfolio, this highly collaborative and key commercial leadership role reports to the Commercial Director – Major Projects, leads a team of seven direct reports, as well as a broader team of forty staff. You will drive the achievement of strategic commercial outcomes across all project phases – inclusive of procurement, contract management, fiscal management, commercial advisory and risk management. Although potentially still building your career, you have already been recognised as a mentor and someone who builds the capability, processes and systems which facilitate the achievement of great outcomes.
You have operated as an effective leader, business partner, team player and stakeholder relationship manager in complex construction, infrastructure and/or utilities environments, within the private and/or public sector. You are experienced in managing contracts and commercial matters with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors or client side. You will demonstrate the credibility to add value, build capability and continue to build your skill and experience set. In addition to having working rights in Australia, your candidacy is supported by relevant tertiary qualifications e.g., quantity surveying, construction management/law, engineering, or business – complemented ideally by a MRICS qualification.
