The HYPAR Group is a collective of specialist organisations supporting at-risk Young People, people with disability, and people seeking personal wellbeing and independence. Since its inception in 2008, HYPAR Group has grown into three core service providers, HYPAR, HYPAR Residential Care, and adventure therapy service HYPAR WILD.
HYPAR provides Mentoring, Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Disability Support services for males across Greater Brisbane and the surrounding South East Queensland region. We are a male-to-male service and adapt and tailor each service to meet the needs, capacity, interests and goals of each individual. About the role...
Be a positive role model to our participants in a supportive and caring environment, building a relationship based on HYPAR’s core values. Be compassionate, patient and understanding, supporting our participants to meet their goals.
A day in the role of our Mentors will include:
- Working autonomously to provide support to our participants to help maintain and improve their level of independence. This may include community participation, skill building and relationship building to name a few
- Planning, assisting and engaging in suitable activities with our participants
- Encourage our participants to make healthy lifestyle choices and access health care services
- Engage in domestic duties such as, but not limited to; house cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, budgeting, shopping etc
- Providing mental health support work within a therapeutic framework to deliver quality care
- Complete case notes per shift, administration tasks and incident reports
Positions are available in the North and South Brisbane regions.
About you…
The ideal candidate will have:
- Exceptional emotional intelligence, demonstrating initiative and flexibility and be able to build strong relationships with our participants
- Desire to be a part of a dedicated team that also share the same focus-driven outcomes
- The ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations
- Strong professional boundaries
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal and are proficient in the use of smart phones/computers.
- The drive to do meaningful work that improves the lives of our participants
- Ability to work a flexible roster, available across morning, evening and weekend shifts.
You will also be required to have or ability to obtain:
- Disability Support Work experience - Highly Regarded
- A current Traffic History Check (within 1 month)
- Paid Blue Card
- Paid NDIS Disability Worker Screening (or valid yellow card)
- Child Safety background screening check (LCS2)
- Have access to a registered vehicle and full comprehensive insurance with a QLD open licence
- Industry Relevant Qualification - Highly Regarded
- A working android or apple smartphone
