Tim Davies Landscaping (TDL) are a leading residential and commercial landscape company in Western Australia that has been in the business for nearly 40 years. We have designed, constructed and maintained many of Western Australia’s most iconic gardens. Based on an all-inclusive design, construct and maintenance model, the business has been growing and evolving which has continued to strengthen our unique brand. TDL now employs over 130 people on projects in Perth and the North/South West.
THE ROLE
TDL are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team in the newly created position of Management Accountant. Working closely with the Financial Controller, this role will have a diverse set of responsibilities. The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a multi-faceted role, someone who thrives in a service facing role building lasting working relationships and finds strong alignment to our company values of Respect, Integrity, Passion and Accountability. This role would be supported by an existing team of the Financial Controller, 3 Accounts Payable/Receivable/Payroll Officers and an Assistant Accountant.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Manage and proactively drive end of month group reporting;
- Create management reporting statements for internal and external requirements, processing all required general journals;
- Complete financial analysis of the Company's performance using key data, and ensuring spending is in line with budgets and forecasts;
- Complete group general ledger reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and subsidiary systems;
- Oversee accounts payable, receivables and payroll functions, providing support as required;
- Primary back up to fortnightly payroll processing, superannuation reporting and helping to ensure internal controls are adhered to;
- Complete and lodge relevant statutory returns including GST, PAYG, Payroll Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax Reporting and fuel tax rebate calculations;
- Business unit P&L reporting and management pack compilation;
- Manage various company asset registers (eg depreciation, hire purchases) including induction and disposal entries;
- Coordinate capital expenditure (CAPEX) process and preparation of various associated reports;
- Take on a role of business first-contact for IT/systems related matters;
- Partner with and provide support to non-finance internal stakeholders; and
- Provide support and assistance in ongoing system and report development projects.
What we’re looking for;
- You will have experience working in a similar role in a SME that is dynamic and fast paced, adapting well to business growth;
- When reading the above list of tasks, you find comfort in your previous experience guiding you to be able to successfully take on the role (noting the Financial Controller will provide clear instructions and can support in areas that may be new to you);
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting or Business;
- Experience with complex ERP systems (with MYOB Advanced being highly regarded);
- You are a highly effective communicator, recognising the influence verbal and written communication has on any outcome and relationships formed within the wider business;
- You can work independently aswell as being an effective team player;
- You are highly organised, and experienced in working with conflicting priorities;
- A practical thinker, that is solutions focused;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel);
- You have been responsible for assisting or providing back up to payroll processing in previous roles and have a sound knowledge of employment law (noting you will be supported by a People & Culture team here at TDL); and
- Experience in the construction industry and project/job costing is highly desirable, but not essential.
