We are recruiting an experienced part-time Management Accountant to complete our team.
The role will be responsible for the overseeing of all financial aspects of the business in consultation with the Managing Director and Accounts Officer. The hours for this part-time role will be 3 days (22.8 hours) per week. We are open to candidates wishing to work in any of our three locations.
The key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Oversee and lead all accounting functions including preparing and maintaining financial records, reports, policies and procedures
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, debtors and payroll
- Preparation and maintenance of 3 way cash flow budget (monthly and annually)
- Preparation of monthly management reports tracking financial performance against budget
- Setting of and oversight of delegated budgets to authorised persons in the firm
- Financial analysis, financial data collection and correction, financial forecasting
- Ensuring compliance with financial covenants and reporting obligations with financiers or stakeholders
- Ensuring adherence with Dividend Policies, making recommendations as to changes to those policies, and considering any investment or related decisions and their impact on cash flow or financial performance
- Respond to requests for information or reports from the Managing Director, or Board, so as to inform decision making, including making recommendations with reasons
- Working closely with the Managing Director and Practice Manager to ensure appropriate adjustments are made depending upon the financial performance of the firm
- Financial modelling taking account of growth or investment opportunities from time to time
- Liaising with Valuers and Accountants from time to time
- Contract administration, negotiation, re-negotiation and compliance as required
- Oversee maintenance of Contract Register and IP Rights Register and renewals
- Authoriser of expenditure and oversee Budgets/Actuals/Cash flow
- Overseeing client billings
- Communications with the external accountant
- Oversight of financial governance and compliance including ATO (lodgements and reporting, GST, BAS, PAYG, Income tax, Fringe Benefits Tax) and QRO (payroll tax and any transfer duty)
- Trust Account compliance including liaising with the Queensland Law Society and External Auditors
- Ensure all financial and accounting or bookkeeping practices are in line with Australian accounting standards
- Compliance and risk management and in particular audit ready and compliant with internal and external audit requirements
- Strategic goals relating to finance as well as contributing to the broader strategic goals of the business
- Supervising and training junior staff as required
- Supplier vetting and approvals
About you!
We are looking for someone who has at least 10 years' experience as a Management Accountant and the following skills
- a tertiary accounting qualification
- CPA or CA qualification or equivalent
- experience with budgeting and forecasting for a mid-size business containing multiple business units / practice teams
- knowledge of Australian accounting principles and relevant standards
- ability to analyse complex reports
- ability to design / redesign complex reports
- ability to work in Microsoft Excel at a high level
- organised and structured in daily duties
- excellent attention to detail
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- advanced computer software skills
- an early adapter of technologies
- team player who is capable or working on projects alone or as a part of a team
