As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the management accounting activity, offering expert advice and services to the organisation. This includes a focus on Operational Plan and Function Based Budgets, Quarterly Budget Reviews, Management Accounting Process and Systems, Management Reporting, and Overhead distribution.
This position is not just about numbers; it involves providing professional input into and assisting with the preparation of Financial Strategies and the Long-Term Financial Plan. Your role will contribute significantly to enabling continuous improvement in operational performance and achieving cultural change aligned with the Council's new strategic direction.
Moreover, you will lead the Management Accounting Team, collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure the delivery of exceptional services across the Council.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the corporation’s fiscal capacity, identifying opportunities and threats
- Monitor external environments relevant to Councils financial condition
- Assist with the development of Councils Financial Strategy
- Prepare a Long Term Financial Plan as it relates to the Delivery Program and Operational Plan
- Develop, maintain and improve appropriate quarterly review procedures utilising Council's systems for the preparation of reports for submission to Council by required dates
- Lead in a professional and ethical manner, promoting the vision, purpose and values of the organisation

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
- Bachelor in Accounting or related discipline
- Solid Management Accounting experience at a senior level in the public and/or private sectors
- Demonstrates highly developed leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated advanced computer skills and knowledge in the operation of Microsoft spreadsheet and database applications
- Demonstrated planning and organisation skills
- Demonstrated commitment to and genuine interest in the provision of excellence in service to internal clients
