PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
An opportunity exists for a Management Accountant in Finance. Reporting to the Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst , this role will be specifically involved in supporting and undertaking management accounting activities for NSW LRS including, the preparation and presentation of timely and accurate management reporting, budgeting and analysis to the relevant other business units to support the Executive Leadership Team in making informed decisions and undertaking effective financial management of their respective budgets.
Your responsibilities include:
- Prepare cost accounting at business unit level and conduct variance analysis of cost versus actual at business unit level
- Maintain various financial models that track actuals v budget, including the monthly FTE model that is prepared at the Business Unit level that consolidates to the enterprise level
- Prepare various finance reports, including the quarterly FTE report and liaising with the relevant Executive in providing insightful commentary
- Prepare Business Unit management reporting and enterprise-wide monthly finance reports, including actual property volumes versus budgeted volumes
- Support in the preparation of the annual budget at enterprise level and then cascade down the budget to each business unit and engage with relevant Business Unit Executive
- Monthly review of opex items, if they are in line with budgeted amounts (eg rental invoices) and business partnering with relevant Business Unit managers in managing forecasted spend, if tracking ahead of budget allocated
- Provide support to other members of the Finance team
- Act as a key interface between Finance and other business units
- Assist with standardisation of management reports
- Assist with driving process improvement initiatives within Finance
- Assist with any internal or external audit activities
- Assist with other adhoc finance duties, including but limited to, monthly reconciliations, monthly tax compliance reports (GST, FBT, Payroll etc), and ABS surveys
To be successful in this position you will have:
- CPA or CA qualified
- At least 3 years’ experience in the role
- Experience in preparing monthly managements reports
- Knowledge and understanding of Australian accounting standards
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be highly organised in order to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Eagerness to business partner, be hands on and get involved with all facets of accounting
- Large ERP experience highly desirable but not essential e.g. SAP
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive mind.
