Founded in 1984, the Rirratjingu Aboriginal Corporation (RAC) represents the Rirratjingu people, the Indigenous Traditional Owners of Land on the Gove Peninsula. This position is a senior position within RAC finance team working closely with the department managers and the CEO.
This position is based in Darwin working closely with our External Finance team at their Darwin office.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Execute month-end accounting tasks, including preparing reconciliations and journal entries. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner.
- Continuously monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts. Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ensure the organisation's financial practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards. Stay updated on changes in financial regulations to maintain compliance.
- Ensure invoicing is accurately entered into the accounting system, ensuring timely and correct processing of all financial transactions.
- Work closely with department managers to understand business processes and provide support during month-end reporting. Facilitate effective communication between finance and other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information sharing.
- Present financial information clearly and concisely to stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations to support business decisions. Conduct thorough analysis of financial data to generate insightful monthly management reports, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support departmental managers by conducting ad-hoc analyses for the development of business cases.
- Assist in the comprehensive preparation of annual budgets, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Prepare detailed monthly budget forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Provide comprehensive support to the external auditor by coordinating with internal departments, preparing necessary financial documents, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all required information.
Qualifications & experience
- CA/CPA qualified finance professional with experience in budgeting, forecasting and analytical support.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships and communicate with a diverse range of people.
