Management Accountant

Michael Page has been retained to recruit a Management Accountant position for a container terminal company based in Port Melbourne to support their VIC/Australian operations. This vacancy is a result of an internal promotion. You will work as a part of a lean, but high performing Finance team.

Client Details

Our client is the largest independent, fully automated container terminal, the first of it's kind in the Southern Hemisphere and determined to set the benchmark for port automation. They are owned by a Filipino company with 30 terminals around the world and account for more than a third of market share. Their Victorian location of Port Melbourne allows for faster turnaround time for imports and exports and easier berthing for larger vessels.

The business is performing very well and are strong in emerging markets. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with similar experience working as a qualified Accountant in industry, or for those looking to make their first move from Big 4/Mid Tier firms.

Description

Reporting to the CFO and Finance Manager, your duties will include but not be limited to:

• Managing the coordination and consolidation of the budgeting and forecasting process, and regular reporting including variance commentary
• Department P&L review and cost analysis
• Month end balance sheet reconciliations
• Fortnightly labour roster review
• Revenue analysis
• CAPEX project cost tracking
• Stakeholder engagement and business partnering
• Payroll processing, and related tasks including novated lease reconciliation, payroll tax, and Workcover submissions
• Reviewing and challenging business performance and suggesting future improvements

Profile

To be successful in the position, you will have the following attributes:

• CA/CPA Qualification
• Experience in budgeting and forecasting in a medium-large organisation
• Strong Excel skills, scenario modelling skills desired
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills

Previous Payroll experience is not required and can be taught!
