The team inhabit a heritage listed Chalmers Church located in the heart of the Launceston CBD. About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to join the team in our Launceston office. This role collaborates with the finance team and the wider business in the development of accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services, the role's responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of monthly management reports, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cashflow within designated timeframes
- Preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including intercompany balances
- Review of the reservations system, and work with the Guest Services team and Assistant Accountant to ensure revenue is reconciled and correct
- Oversee the fortnightly payroll cycle, including assisting Assistant Management Accountant with processing of timesheets and payment of all payroll related items including wages, superannuation and associated taxes. Provide a reconciliation of wages fortnightly, explaining significant variances to budget.
- Monitor accounts receivable/payable and work with key stakeholders within the business and operational departments to ensure all outstanding accounts are collected/paid within agreed terms
- Monitor and ensure all compliance obligations are adhered with including lodgments, the timely payment of all statutory charges, taxes and the Superannuation Guarantee obligations
- Participate in the annual operations and capex budget process
- Act as a key contact for external audits including providing documentation, answering queries and coordinating responses from other TWG staff
- Implementation and overview of applicable internal controls including internal audit reporting
- Ad hoc financial analysis as required
- Assist in the mentoring and development of the wider finance team to ensure their continuous professional improvement
The ideal candidate for this key role will have the following skills and experience:
- 3+ years’ experience in business services, financial or management accounting, supported by tertiary qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA) would be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in preparing timely and accurate consolidated financial statements
- Demonstrated experience with balance sheet reconciliations
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to communicate with professionalism, warmth, and accuracy
- Strong attention to detail with well-developed time management skills
- Experience using Sage300 would be highly desirable but is not a requirement of the role
