About SRJ Walker Wayland 

SRJ Walker Wayland is an accounting and advisory firm dedicated to building genuine relationships with our clients and staff utilising a holistic business approach to achieve both business and personal goals.    

We are an expanding Queensland based firm with a team of approximately 75 people across our locations in Brendale and on the Sunshine Coast, as well as an offshore team.  Our firm positions strategic planning as one of its core offerings guiding the elements of Tax, Audit and Accounting.  The SRJ Walker Wayland team services SME's, non-profit organisations, corporations, partnerships and individuals across areas of Accounting, Audit & Assurance, Business Solutions and Business Advisory.

Being part of the Walker Wayland Australasia network means SRJ Walker  team have access to resources and advice from members in other accounting firms across Australia and New Zealand which is beneficial in assisting our clients across many areas and including those we may not necessarily specialise in.

Working with SRJWW you will:  

  • Work in a small Business Services team reporting directly to your Partner.
  • Work with a diverse client base across a broad range of industry sectors.
  • Be provided with training and career progression opportunities, with individualised training and development plans in place to help support career development.
  • Participate in quarterly in-house training provided by CAANZ as well as in-house webinars presented by other professional bodies such as Knowledge Shop.
  • Have access to online resources such as Mindshop online, CCH iKnow, IBIS World to name a few.
  • Be involved with the Emerging Leaders Program when appropriate.
  • Participate in our Growth Incentive Program from commencement which provides for a bonus directly related to your part in the growth of our client base via referrals.
  • Participate in our Referral Incentive Program from commencement, providing for a bonus where existing team members refer new team members.
  • Receive mentoring from more senior members including Partners.
  • Have monthly catch ups with your team covering off on all aspects of daily work life including performance, workflow, challenges/hurdles, training, happiness/engagement and we will always check in on our team members mental health and wellbeing.
  • Participate in twice yearly performance reviews with your Partner and your team.
  • Have access to an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Be set up with quality IT equipment both at work and for your home office, with IT support easily accessible whether in the office or at home.
  • Engage with the full team in regular full team catch ups.

About the Role 

We are looking for a manager to join our team on a full-time basis, based in our Brendale office. This is an opportunity to work with and manage a team and/or clients, reporting directly to your Partner.

In this role you will work with a diverse client base across a broad range of industry sectors, and your responsibilities will include the management and delegation of workflow around compliance, cash flow forecasts, management reports, tax research and advisory work. You must have solid Business Services and tax experience with a variety of clients, as well as demonstrated advisory skills with exceptional communication skills.  

Ongoing training and development activities are provided through in house and external training, with your desire for career progression and professional development supported.  

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Demonstrated experience in a management role working within an Accountancy Firm in Business Services
  • CA / CPA qualified
  • Comprehensive understanding of Australian tax legislation
  • Strong tax advisory skills
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate and review work
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor lower-level accountants encouraging development of skills, both technical and interpersonal
  • Confidence in working with clients to propose advisory and ‘other services’ work to help clients meet their overall business objectives
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • A strong degree of initiative
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation
