You strive to be an effective and valuable business partner and provide leadership and strategic direction to your team and stakeholders to meet operational needs through supply management and development, strategic planning, category strategy development, management and execution and contract risk management.
As the Manager, Category Management - Mining Services, Infrastructure and Exploration you will oversee all category procurement and contract management for:
- Mining services which include all key on site services contracts such as explosives, drilling, analytics (onsite and offsite), crushing & screening, civils, and the key support area for aboriginal business engagement
- Infrastructure services including facilities and non-processing infrastructure management
- Exploration services domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a category team to achieve a high-level of performance, integration, and consistency in procurement and contract management across the category whilst delivering sound commercial outcomes to the business.
- Actively participate in the leadership and direction of the Strategic Procurement function for Operations.
- Develop, lead, and support the execution of global and local category plans and contract sourcing strategies based on research and analysis to optimise value-for-money outcomes and meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Identify and manage commercial, contractual, operational, financial, reputational, ESG and supply chain risks to minimise negative impacts on category objectives while encouraging opportunity and innovation.
- Lead negotiations on high impact, complex supply arrangements and contract issues to deliver better category outcomes.
- Develop and maintain budget oversight of the category team.
- Provide expert advice and build relationships with key stakeholders on all aspects of procurement and the corresponding categories, to encourage innovative practices and support delivery of business needs within policy guidelines.
- Liaison with cross-functional working groups at a senior level.
- Lead and develop category team members, supporting talent management initiatives.
- Ensure safety is a key priority in all commercial considerations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate or Master’s degrees in supply chain, business, commerce, engineering or law is desirable
- 10+ years of experience in Procurement and Contract Management roles within Mining or similar industries.
- Alignment to the Fortescue Values.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills, ability to deliver commercially astute outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills - ability to foster team work, build a positive culture, look out for team’s well-being and mentor and motivate team to deliver business outcomes.
- Excellent drafting, negotiating and communication skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective written and presentation skills.
- Strong self-management and performance capabilities, organisation skills and priority management.
- Flexibility and creativity - ability to create and adopt new methods and processes to deliver outcomes and challenge existing paradigms.
- A desire to continually improve the service offering and seek feedback from stakeholders on performance.
- A respectful and collaborative manner
