The Great Barrier Reef is the premier Superyacht destination in Australia and the opportunity to continue growing yacht visitations is a key economic driver for the region.
Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef (SYGGBR) is a peak regional body based in Cairns. As a not-for-profit organisation with more than 100 individual and business members the Group is responsible for developing and marketing the region’s products and services to the international and national Superyacht industry.
Purpose of the Role
The Manager will be responsible for all SYGGBR administrative activities, delivery of business development strategies and marketing initiatives to maximise growth in Superyacht visitation to the North Queensland region.
Reporting Relationship
The position will report directly to the Chairperson of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee consists of key industry representatives.
Main Tasks
- In consultation with the Executive Committee implement strategies to grow the Superyacht industry in the region.
- Assist the Executive Committee to identify funding sources and prepare relevant documentation to meet funding agreement requirements.
- Manage the Group’s administration including all aspects of membership and the coordination of Executive Meetings.
- Develop an annual Marketing Plan and implementation schedule identifying opportunities to promote the region and its capabilities.
- Maintain website to meet stakeholder needs and portray the SYGGBR and its members in a professional manner.
- Prepare communication and promotional collateral. in
- Represent SYGGBR in industry forums, advisory groups and other business initiatives domestically and overseas.
- Establish and maintain knowledge of the national and international Superyacht market and identify any emerging insights or issues for the region.
- Ensure all business activity complies with the constitution and relevant legislation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role is essential
- Marine industry specific knowledge and experience is desirable
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to establish clear priorities to ensure deadlines are met in an effective and timely manner
- High level interpersonal skill with excellent written and verbal communication
- Effective digital marketing experience
- Proven track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- Ability to take initiative and work in an autonomous environment
