Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the unit to ensure the functions and objectives of the Electrical Standards & Safety Unit (the Unit) are met.
- Manage the strategic development of the Unit to meet the changing needs of a challenging industry.
- Provide high-level technical and legislative support to the Unit and Industry on electricity safety issues, licensing of electrical workers, electricity safety legislation and other regulatory matters.
- Develop, in consultation with the various electricity industry groups and national regulatory bodies, the appropriate advice on the relevant electricity safety legislation, policies and procedures that are associated with the safe and efficient use of electricity in Tasmania.
- Assist the appropriate statutory office holders with their relevant functions including licensing for electrical tradespeople, approvals for electrical appliances and compliance strategies.
- Be responsible for the management of the multi-year “Electricity Safety Inspection Service” contract.
- Represent Tasmania on various national working groups and committees including Standards Australia committees, as appropriate to maintain Tasmania’s input into national electricity safety matters.
- Other related duties as required by the Director, Technical Regulation & Occupational Licencing.
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications as either a licenced electrical practitioner or hold a Bachelor Degree in electrical engineering.
- Current drivers licence.
