About the role
This is a full time permanent opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.
The Manager Group Risk is responsible for proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks. They provide risk management and quantitative analytics functions in relation to the company’s participation in financial and commodity markets (electricity, gas, carbon, oil, coal, water, environmental products and foreign exchange), as well as providing divisional risk management advice. This role is responsible for the day to day operations and management of the Group Risk team, ensuring trading compliance is monitored and reported in accordance with procedures and policies.
Key activities include:
- Provide independent oversight of commodity trading activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Understand and lead the independent oversight of financial risk, including market risk, credit risk and liquidity risk.
- Ensure accurate and independent reporting of risk positions, including compliance with established risk limits.
- Lead the development of risk reporting solutions and methodologies for measuring commodity risk exposures.
- Build and nurture collaborative relationships with the Energy Trading and Future Energy divisions to ensure effective risk management practices.
About you
- Extensive experience in a trading or financial risk role with a demonstrated understanding of quantitative risk analysis, models and techniques.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, emphasising team development and a customer-centric mindset.
- In-depth knowledge of industry and trends, with a forward-thinking approach.
- Relevant tertiary and post-graduate qualifications. Quantitative fields such as mathematics, and engineering highly regarded.
