The Health Safety and Wellbeing Manager is responsible for managing the work, health and safety function across the bank, providing leadership and continuous improvement in areas of expertise in including wellbeing, workplace safety, health and injury management.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources this role provides subject matter expertise to the business, including the Executive Team and up through to the Board in areas relating to wellbeing, workplace safety, health and injury management. A critical component of this role is the development and implementation of key strategic and operational initiatives linked to the WHS and Wellbeing Strategy and maintaining the effectiveness of WHS systems, policies and procedures in alignment with the bank's “right things, right way” culture and ensuring compliance with relevant safety legislation and standards in relevant states.
The role works closely with business stakeholders, WHS and Wellbeing Group and State Committees, HR Team and supports identified Officers to understand their duties, responsibilities, and risks in relation to WHS matters. The role also manages key third-party relationships with consultants, insurance agencies, rehabilitation providers and other relevant parties as required.
Desired Skills and Experience
A brief summary of key responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop, implement and evolve the BBA Work, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy to build a positive WHS culture and continuously improve WHS performance, consistent with contemporary practice, current research and legislative compliance requirements.
- Develop, implement and maintain a WHS Framework (systems, policies and procedures) across BBA ensuring it supports and meets the strategic plan and is compliant with legislative requirements
- Develop ongoing strategies and solutions to mitigate WHS risks including physical, psychological and environmental.
- Provide expert advice to the Board, Executive team and WHS Committee regarding WHS legislative and compliance matters
- Maintain and improve the Beyond Bank Australia Injury Management framework and reporting
- Case management of employee work and non-related work injuries to ensure successful return to work outcomes
What do you need to have?
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety
- Human Resource/Business qualifications
- 3 - 6 Years experience in the management of Work, Health and Safety strategy and operations within a fast-paced customer focused organisation
- 3 - 6 Years experience expertise in injury management
- WHS reporting and management experience.
- Strong team skills working within a dynamic and focused People and Culture Team.
- Strong organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise workload, handle multiple tasks and work efficiently and effectively to deadlines and respond to multiple and diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work with People Leaders and Executive Team with respect to WHS matters.
- Well-developed written skills, ability to create professional standard reports and write comprehensive policies and procedures
- Effective presentation and training skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
