We have an exciting opportunity to develop, implement and lead the Integrated Oncology Unit and its team members to deliver contemporary multidisciplinary Integrated Oncology services. You will work as a valued member of the broader Alfred Health Cancer Services team and contribute to improving the lives of patients, families and carers undergoing treatment in our world-class Cancer Centre.

The Department
Alfred Cancer Program The Alfred Cancer program governs the delivery of comprehensive cancer care across Alfred Health, providing clinical care for patients affected by cancer, blood disorders and at the end of life. Alfred Cancer comprises service units providing clinical and research excellence in the fields of medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology, bone marrow transplant, haemophilia, Melanoma and palliative care. The program provides quality clinical care for our local catchment and to all Victorians through our state-wide melanoma, haematology and haemophilia services. The Alfred Cancer program also has a large focus on clinical trials with a research component embedded in each medical unit. In addition, Alfred Cancer partners with many rural and regional centres, collaborating in the delivery of clinical trials and research activities across Victoria.
The Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre (PFMCC) is a purpose-built facility opening in April 2024, which will provide specialist multidisciplinary, comprehensive care for patients with Melanoma and other cancers, integrated with leading medical imaging modalities and research functions to enable seamless and exceptional patient experience. The centre supports patients through pathways of care designed to adapt to the needs of individual patients, their families and significant others. The Integrated Oncology Unit is a newly established unit located within the Paula Fox MelanomaCancer Centre and will be responsible for the delivery of a program of Integrated Oncology services, which will operate in conjunction with traditional cancer care therapies.
The Position Summary
This position will establish the Integrated Oncology Unit and provide leadership and direction to the team to facilitate the provision of evidence-based, contemporary Integrated and supportive care to patients, families and carers affected by cancer.
Specifically, this position will;
- Establish and maintain the Integrated Oncology Unit, its services and programs – including developing service delivery models and program structure and recruitment of team members
- Drive the integration and development of the Integrated Oncology program to ensure the Alfred Cancer Program is known as an integrative cancer care centre of excellence.
- Ensure the Integrated Oncology programs are visible and accessible across all Cancer Services including inpatient and outpatient models of care, being responsive to individual patient needs.
- Develop and ensure productive key relationships with the multidisciplinary teams including Program & Unit Managers, Medical leads, Nurse Unit Managers, Allied Health Managers, and the Cancer Clinical Trials Centre and external stakeholders
- Ensure that the Integrated Oncology Unit provides access to the most up-to-date and appropriate information in both written and digital format which is evidence-based on cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or Qualified Allied Health professional
- Eligibility for registration or membership of the relevant professional body (AHPRA or other)
- Demonstrated experience in management and leadership of multidisciplinary teams, in the provision of Integrated and supportive care in cancer services
Desirable
- Experience in the provision of clinical care within an oncology setting
- Degree in healthcare/business management or working towards the same
- Post-graduate qualifications (or working towards) at Masters level or higher in a clinical area or health services management/administration/ business management or relevant field
