Position Overview:
Are you passionate about creating sustainable and vibrant public spaces? Are you a contemporary leader with proven strategic skills who can drive a culture of innovation, agility, and customer service excellence during a time of change and opportunity? As the Manager of the Parks and Environment team, you will lead the research, planning, and delivery of a diverse array of projects and initiatives focused on Parks and Environment, waste and sustainability, climate change mitigation and adaptation, greening, biodiversity, and water conservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire an agile, responsive, innovative, respectful, cohesive, and high achieving team of people, by promoting and delivering excellent internal and external customer service and behaviors.
- Lead the Town’s Parks and Environment maintenance functions, including contractors, plant, rostering, programming, work planning, resource management, materials procurement, public realm management, and related activities.
- Plan and coordinate strategic programs and initiatives to advance the Town’s sustainability goals.
- Lead project management efforts, ensuring effective collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders for successful project delivery.
- Initiate, drive, and influence the development, delivery, and evaluation of a range of high-level strategies, policies, projects, and initiatives to optimise and implement best practice and innovative solutions for Council and the Town of Mosman Park Community.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, Parks Management, Arboriculture, or Sustainability or demonstrated experience.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in local government or similar public service industry.
- Working knowledge of parks irrigation.
- Extensive experience leading/supervising teams.
- Highly developed Customer Service Skills.
- Sound financial management skills.
- Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
- Excellent understanding and application of Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal English.
- 'C' class driver’s license
