Reputable and Award recognised 5th generation family enterprise, leading progressive and sustainable waste management practice with over 130 years of history, have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished People & Culture leader who is looking for ownership and the opportunity to build a more contemporary P&C practice nationally. Drive a change and improvement agenda for an ambitious company poised to take its business to the next level by building a best practice infrastructure and Culture to support this SME's growth trajectory.
As part of the Executive Leadership Team, working in partnership with their General Manager effectively as his 2IC and with the support of one HR resource, your commitment to excellence, integrity, sustainability and championing a positive workplace culture, driving a change agenda, will be the cornerstone of your success taking ownership of, but not limited to, the following:
Strategic Alignment: Aligning P &C strategy and initiatives with the Company’s unique operational and strategic requirements, culture, values and business goals.
Talent Management: Attracting, developing, and retaining top talent to meet our business and strategic needs.
Employee Relations: Promoting positive employee relations, constructively resolving conflicts, and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally
Compliance and Risk Management: Staying current and ensuring adherence to industry regulations, sector best practice and legislative obligations and developments, ensuring that these are reflected in company policy and procedure.
Operations and Process Improvement: Optimization of P & C processes, systems, and reporting to enhance insight, efficiency and effectiveness and inform opportunities for continual improvement.
Professional Development: Developing and implementing a framework/activity to provide guidance, support, and development opportunities to all employees.
Workplace Health and Safety: Managing the company’s Return to Work and OHS frameworks, and initiatives to support and foster a safe, respectful, inclusive and diverse work environment.
Projects: Supporting the General Manager with relevant business projects
Appropriate tertiary qualifications/relevant professional experience as a People & Culture leader is essential. Strong technical knowledge and confidence around industry regulations, IR/ER together with demonstrable experience to take a leading role in OHS, talent acquisition/retention, performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution is ideal. Stakeholder management as you build your reputation as a sought after and trusted advisor will be at your core. You will have experience of working in blue-collar industry; and although waste management would be ideal, it is not essential. Any experience gained from the transport/logistics/recycling/manufacturing or similar sectors are preferred for this hands-on role.
