About the role
ac.care is seeking a Manager for People & Culture to manage, lead and develop the ac.care People & Culture Team and will provide line management to the People & Culture Business Partners as well as the People and Culture & WHS Support Officer. The role will have a strong focus on leading the implementation and maintenance of the (current) HR Strategy and the ac.care Way. The role will be responsible for high level strategic management, development and review of all aspects of human resources services,
including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, grievances and investigations, work health and safety, employee relations, industrial relations and end of employment. The Manager for People & Culture will be responsible for building capacity, engagement and accountability of the workforce while promoting and driving a culture of positivity and continuous improvement. The role will achieve this through strategic workforce planning and development,
providing expert and specialist advice to SLT, ELT, the CEO and the Board and enhancing current Human Resource practices. As part of this you will:
- Lead the implementation, design and continuous development of the (current) HR strategy
- Manage the effective delivery of the goals outlined in the ac.care Reconciliation Action Plan for Aboriginal Recruitment and retention and whole of organsiation cultural awareness training
- Develop, design and manage the delivery of strategies that will ensure that ac.care is an employer of choice
- Ensure best practice workforce planning, management and development by supporting other managers to proactively identify issues and solutions
- Develop, actively manage, report on and review the People & Culture budgets
- Foster positive behaviours and embed practices that improve engagement and performance
- Ensure a solution focussed approach and encourage positive change management
- Manage the appropriate review, development, design and implementation
of HR & WHS strategies policies, frameworks and processes - Lead the attraction, career development, retention and succession planning for all ac.care staff
- Oversee the development of learning and development plans that nurture staff competencies and match ac.care’s objectives
- Lead, coach and mentor direct reports in the performance of their duties including monitoring performance and providing timely and effective feedback/supervision

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or lesser qualifications with extensive and relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR/People & Culture role
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, with people management experience
- Proven ability to successfully address a broad range of generalist HR challenges, including industrial relations and Return to Work processes
- High level of interpersonal skills and experience in negotiation, conflict resolution and providing expert advice to multiple stakeholders, including senior leadership team and Board
- Demonstrate the successful management and leadership of a complex team/operation and proven ability to show leadership, set priorities and achieve goals in a context of competing and challenging expectations
- Proven ability to provide clarity, leadership and evidence-based solutions in an environment of ambiguity
- Demonstrated experience in budget management, as well as detailed report writing
- Demonstrated experience in developing strong collaborative relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Experience recruiting and supporting Aboriginal staff

- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families and communities
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
- Post-graduate qualification in Human Resources
- Previous experience in a similar position in a not-for-profit environment
- Understanding of current community sector services, trends and issues
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
