Manager Performance & Customer Insights

About the role

As a senior member of the Performance team within the Operations group, the Manager of Performance and Customer Insights is responsible for analysing performance, patronage, revenue, customer, and other data to drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Providing specialised data analysis focused on railway operations, fleet maintenance, and infrastructure management to improve operational performance.
  • Managing a small team of Performance and Insights Analysts along with external data suppliers to enhance the analytical capabilities of the Performance team.
  • Conducting thorough business intelligence gathering, analysis, and delivering recommendations to achieve targets in patronage, revenue, and customer satisfaction.
  • Leading market research initiatives to understand customer needs, foster innovation, and pinpoint opportunities for enhancing customer experience and connectivity.
  • Developing financial models to forecast performance, revenue, and costs of new products, and supporting commercial negotiations with insightful data analysis.
  • Maintaining and refining data and analytical systems for future planning, ensuring sustainable business practices, and suggesting technological advancements to enhance customer intelligence.
  • Contributing to business planning, reporting, budgeting, and quarterly forecasting by providing intelligence for achieving financial and service delivery targets.

About you

You are a skilled Power BI specialist, excelling at delivering insights to stakeholders, thriving on diverse work, and fostering collaboration. Your expertise enables you to present complex data effectively, catering to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior executives.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis, with a strong ability to identify trends is key for success in this role.
  • Established IT skills and advanced proficiency in Power BI, Excel, and other MS Office applications.
  • Previous exposure and/or experience in mentoring and leading small teams (not essential).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to clearly articulate and present insights to various working groups. Additionally, you have consistently demonstrated your ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership teams.
  • While not essential, tertiary qualifications in Statistical Modelling, Commerce, Economics, or related disciplines will be highly regarded.
