Manager, Procurement Strategy

As the Manager, Procurement Strategy along with the team you will:

• Work with the Deputy CPO to develop and define the Procurement strategy and steward the delivery of the annualised functional plan, priorities and 3-year roadmap. 
• Initiate and lead procurement forward planning activities across the department, in conjunction with Category Managers and divisional stakeholders, to provide an informed 2-year forward procurement activity plan and identify opportunities to deliver sustainable value. 
• Manage a team to lead and engage with all levels of the department to develop and implement strategies for improvement to meet operational needs and strategic priorities.
• Support professional development of the Procurement team and build capability across the department through delivering regular learning and development programs, training or similar.
• Lead and model service excellence to ensure the procurement team become trusted advisors across the department including managing the delivery of timely and compliant advice between Procurement and schools, preschool and corporate employees.
•  Work closely with the procurement team to ensure a collaborative and consistent approach to procurement activities. Where required, provide advice on sourcing strategies for discrete projects and lead specific tenders of a significant or complex nature.
• Lead the Procurement ESG agenda, delivering increased engagement with local industry, indigenous and diverse suppliers. Coordinate delivery of the environmental, social and governance procurement improvement initiatives.
• Ensure consistent and fit for purpose processes and tools are developed and implemented for Category Management and Supplier Relationship Management processes.
• Support the delivery of market intelligence to the Procurement function and other interested stakeholders.

To be successful in this position you will have demonstrated experience in leading a team, exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills and be able to evidence your ability to navigate and successfully deliver change.

Whilst experience working within government procurement is beneficial, we are ultimately looking for someone who can think both practically and strategically, challenge the status quo for the benefit of all - while maintaining adherence to relevant legislation, policies, and Treasurer’s instructions (etc).
