The Research Office is a central unit within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and supports research activities across UTS in partnership with the faculty research offices and other support units. The way we approach risk management at UTS has evolved and developed, and therefore we are recruiting a collaborative and client-focussed Manager, Research Risk to play a leading role in our Research Risk management efforts.
About the Team
The Research Stewardship Team in the Research Office contributes to building foundations of trust and credibility for research and its impact. We do this by providing coordinating and advice functions for conducting and managing research ethically, honestly, and conscientiously. In relation to risk management, the Research Stewardship team is responsible for supporting the University in efficient and effective Research Risk management, using a benefit and risk evaluation approach, and designing risk mitigation strategies.

About the Role
The Manager, Research Risk, is responsible for UTS's Research Risk function. They work to identify, detect, and recognise potential threats to the university's reputation, strategy, operations, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability in relation to research, as well as ensuring compliance with Defence Export Control legislation. The Manager, Research Risk will partner with stakeholders across the university to ensure we have resilient and streamlined processes addressing research-related risks to enable institutional decision making that is informed by benefits and risks.
This is an exciting time to join the team as our risk management approach matures, and you will be a key leader in our evolving Research Risk management journey at UTS.
With examples from your previous work experience, please outline, in a separate document, how you meet the following five (5) key selection criteria points below:
1. Experience working within a risk management context and establishing and managing risk assessment processes.
2. Experience in business process analysis, process mapping and change implementation to achieve sustainable change and ongoing improvement.
3. Experience providing expert guidance to stakeholders by presenting complex information clearly.
4. Demonstrated expertise in building highly effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including an ability to exercise initiative, tact, and discretion in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters.
5. Experience managing staff and promoting a positive team culture.

Remuneration/Salary
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $132,164 to $138,310 pa (HEW 9)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and the appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
