About the Role:

The Manager, Scholarly Resources will lead the planning, development and stewardship of information resources and collections into a phase of transformation and innovation. Working with leaders and colleagues across the Library, the role will be a key player in ensuring VU staff and students have access to quality information resources 

Reporting to the Associate Director, Library, the Manager, and Scholarly Resources will make a significant contribution to the shaping of policy and procedures around resources including collection access, location and evaluation and engagement with new developments such as Open Education and Transformative Agreements

This position will be offered on a full-time ongoing basis at the classification level of HEP 8 classification, with salary of $106,346 - 119,760 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contribution, working 36.75 hours per week.

Some of the duties you will perform are:

  • Leading staff and functions associated with the effective identification, acquisition, management  and organisation of the Library’s information resources and collections to support VU’s teaching, learning and research priorities
  • Leading the development of effective end-to-end workflows in relation to acquisition, description, discovery and review of scholarly information resources
  • Planning and managing day-to-day finance, reporting and forecasting in relation to the Scholarly Resources budget in the context of an international currency environment and oversee the Library’s consortia arrangements.
  • Establishing and maintain high level and effective relationships with partner University Libraries in the negotiation of consortia arrangements and with external service providers and suppliers in the negotiation of contracts and licences. 


About You:

  • Embody Victoria University's values and have a proven track record of leading services and functions related to scholarly resource provision in a university or TAFE setting.
  • Have significant experience leading individuals and/or teams of staff
  • Have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to present information for a range audiences.
  • Possess substantial experience in management of information resources including:
    o  Financial tracking and forecasting
    o   Acquisitions
    o   Description and access
  • Possess a strong understanding of: 
    o   Institutional repositories and their role in collecting and discovering research outputs.
    o   Electronic resource licenses
    o   Resource usage metrics and data analytics
     
  • Actively monitor emerging trends such as Open Access, Generative AI and Transformative Agreements
