Job description

This is an excellent opportunity to join our Health and Safety team, focusing on developing and improving the health and safety business partnering model across the university. In this role, you will train and oversee business partners, empowering managers university-wide to meet safety requirements and proactively prevent injuries. Your leadership skills will be crucial in establishing an effective training model, continuously refining processes, and consulting with the health and safety leadership team to devise strategic implementation plans for activities and programs.
This role also requires you to work closely with various stakeholders including safety business partners, regulators and faculties. Join a supportive team that values innovation and creativity. Your contribution will be pivotal in refining our processes, enhancing the visibility of our team, and, most importantly, assisting in the prevention of injuries across the university.
Other responsibilities will include:

  • Extensive liaison with senior officers within the University to establish acceptance of responsibility and accountability for health and safety
  • Maintain a robust knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation, standards and codes and the University's policies and procedures
  • Provide regular reports to the Faculty Executive Director and Committees on safety concerns, compliance, and suggest new procedures for the University community's protection
  • Facilitate health and safety forums to assist with the integration of the management system requirements
Who we are looking for
We seek people with excellent communication, consultation, and negotiation skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels. Your creativity, coupled with advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, allows you to integrate knowledge effectively for innovative solutions.
You will also have:
  • A relevant qualification and or relevant experience in people management or education/training
  • Ability to coach and lead teams, delivering high impact service
  • Demonstrated high level understanding and experience in business improvement

Your New Team - Business Services and Health and Safety Services
Business Services provides a full range of class leading information technology, facilities management, finance, HR and health and safety services to all operating entities of the University.
The Health and Safety Services team provides advisory / support services and are responsible for facilitation and / or coordination of implementation of University and divisional procedures. Employees and managers with Health and Safety queries can access the team's expert health and safety support services via Health and Safety Assist. The teams' Health and Safety partnering approach provides advisory Services to assist with implementing the OHS Management System, reporting or closing hazards or incidents in ERMS, conducting workstation assessments, conducting risk assessments, injury management specialists and other OHS issues.
