Manager Sustainability Programs

About the role
As the Manager Sustainability Programs, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Safety, Sustainability and Risk (SSR) Group.
You will develop, coordinate and champion sustainability uplift at V/Line, with a focus most notably on climate emissions reduction, energy conservation, and waste management. Additionally, you will act as a subject matter expert, providing advise to business queries as required.
Key Accountabilities include:
  • Delivery of large and complex sustainability projects, as part of the Sustainability Uplift Action Plan and broader “Destination Zero” strategy
  • Provide accurate information, professional advice, and timely responses to business issues
  • Critically analyse sustainability data to identify and advise on environmental trends
  • Preparing budget and business cases for internal and external grant applications
Site visits & the requirement to travel
This role requires travel to sites throughout regional Victoria. It’s a great way to get out to the regions and see our beautiful State!
The role is primarily based at our Flinders Street office, however will be required to travel regionally approximately once a fortnight, to engage with relevant stakeholders, dependent on project demands.
About you
You are a confident and influential communicator who enjoys building relationships with others. You are passionate about uplifting capabilities and bringing people on a sustainability journey. You appreciate being self-managed and are an independent thinker.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Extensive experience within the sustainability industry, demonstrable through a comprehensive understanding of sustainability, in particular climate change and life cycle analysis
  • Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, science, engineering or similar (highly desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing others
  • Demonstrated project management and project delivery experience in the sustainability space
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing business cases and budget grants
  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
