Job description

About us

Living Proud was founded more than 50 years ago by a group of courageous community members who established the first gay and lesbian rights movement in Australia, called the Campaign Against Moral Persecution WA (CAMP WA). While lobbying to decriminalise homosexuality, CAMP WA established a telephone support line, called ‘Phone a Friend’.

‘Phone a Friend’ tapped into a significant unmet support need and led to the establishment of the Homosexual Counselling Service of WA in December 1973, later named the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service (GLCS). The GLCS continued to provide telephone and other peer-based support, information, and advocacy services.

The name ‘Living Proud’ was originally used as the name of the LGBTI Suicide Prevention Project run by GLCS from 2011 to 2013. The name ‘Living Proud’ was later adopted to reflect the inclusive nature of our organisation and services.

We strive to improve the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bi+, transgender, intersex, queer and other diverse people.

About the role

It’s an exciting time to join the Living Proud team!  We recently reviewed our award-winning Opening Closets training program and are looking for an enthusiastic training and consultancy professional to lead the implementation of our shiny new LGBTIQ+ Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Program.

Our review identified exciting opportunities for growth, collaboration, and innovation. Our newly developed training and consultancy offerings equip us to provide a comprehensive program that will support our clients to create inclusive and safe workplaces and services for LGBTIQ+ people and communities throughout Western Australia.

This position would suit an aspiring training and consultancy professional who has a minimum of 2-5 years training and leadership experience.

For any questions about the position, please email *****@livingproud.org.au.
