The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. About the role
As part of the People & Culture leadership team, this position oversees Workplace Relations and health, safety and wellbeing. Leading a team of Workplace Relations and OH&S professionals, the Manager, Workplace Relations will demonstrate a sound understanding of contemporary developments in Workplace Relations and occupational health and safety, and will work cross-functionally, delivering quality outcomes and excellence in service delivery.
Playing an integral role as a subject matter expert in Workplace Relations by providing technical expertise to manage industrial risks, this role will be responsible for delivering strategic advice to the business to plan, implement and embed a culture of safety and wellbeing, as well as responding to Workplace Relations matters and identifying and treating risks through education and policy development. This role will be involved in representing the department in VPS-wide committees and projects such as VPS and portfolio agency EBA bargaining, managing responses to OH&S interdepartmental committees and oversight of WorkCover Premium and case management.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
Well-developed management skills including experience in leading and motivating a team in a high volume, fast-paced environment, including demonstrated experience in leading an ER/IR consultancy function with experience in enterprise bargaining negotiations and organisational change, preferably within a government setting.
Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop and present material on complex matters to a wide range of audiences and the ability to prepare quality briefs, reports and correspondence.
Identifies complex stakeholder issues and manages and monitors the impact and risk of a program, project or issue on people or organisations with a vested interest.
Demonstrated ability to provide succinct and clear expert advice to stakeholders on a range of employment, change management or health and safety matters, using a range of strategies to engage and communicate.
Deeply analyses and understands the differing interests and vantage points of stakeholders when developing or responding to initiatives that fall within area of responsibility, including strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures and contemporary developments in Workplace Relations and HSW
Establishes and maintains relationships with people at all levels and from different backgrounds and organisations
