Australian Prescriber is an independent and free, peer-reviewed journal that includes evidence-based review articles on drugs and therapeutics. Australian Prescriber provides critical reflection on decision-making, and in-depth, practical and applied discussion on a broad range of topics addressing the intersection of quality use of medicines, diagnostics and pathology.
We now have an opportunity to appoint a Managing Editor to lead this publication at Therapeutic Guidelines. They will oversee operational management of the editorial team reporting to this role, responsible for delivery of content strategy and quality, including new content development, and content deployment to meet government key performance indicators. The Managing Editor is also a member of the Australian Prescriber Editorial Advisory Committee and collaborates with the Australian Prescriber Stakeholder Network, to facilitate peer review of journal articles.
The ideal candidate
To be successful in this role, we are seeking an individual who has a postgraduate qualification in pharmacy or medicine, as well as qualifications in writing, editing or publishing being highly desirable. Over your career to date, you will have at least 6 years’ experience in publishing, 4 years in a senior editorial role and 3 years’ experience working in clinical care. You would also bring to the role broad healthcare sector knowledge, including familiarity with external organisations, clinicians and resources in the field of quality use of medicine, knowledge of current developments in medical information publishing and digital publishing and knowledge of evidence-based medicine and associated methodologies.
