Extractas Bioscience (formerly Tasmanian Alkaloids / TasAlk) has been a big part of the community for over 45 years and is now seeking a career minded Manufacturing Operatorto fill a permanent, full-time vacancy at our facility based in Westbury, Tasmania.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Coordinator, the Manufacturing Operator is responsible for activities relating to the manufacture of narcotic raw material controlled substances and seed cleaning. The primary objective is the manufacture, packing of CPS, seed and associated upgrades, treatment of waste water and operation of associated utilities as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lift, stack and un-stack articles and materials using Forklifts equipped with fork or bale attachments;
  • Receive, check and store raw or processed materials;
  • Move raw materials and finished goods to processing or dispatch areas of factories;
  • Work within EHS&S and quality policies and procedures;
  • Following strict EHS and Manufacturing process and procedure in line with cGMP;
  • Keep records of daily operations and make sure goods are stored in the correct area of the site;
  • Load transport vehicles, making sure loads are evenly and securely placed;
  • Safe operation of plant and machinery

About you:

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the following qualifications, knowledge and attributes:

  • The ability to follow EHS procedures in order to minimise harm to self, others or the environment;
  • Forklift & Front-End Loader licence preferred, but not essential;
  • Experience in a trade related discipline or industrial chemical or primary manufacturing environment preferred;
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office / database skills;
  • Strong emphasis on product quality and customer service;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team, both within the department and cross-departmental;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Be trustworthy, self-motivated, reliable and have ability to work with limited supervision within a small team environment;
  • Ability to follow safe manual handling techniques;
  • A strong understanding of quality control standards;
  • Ability to work rotating shift work as required;
