The Marine Excellence Centre (MEC) provides a full service offering with technical support from our experienced marine consultants including system design, equipment specification, installation, commissioning and sea trialing.

About the job

Based in Bayswater, WA, the MEC’s team of highly skilled and experienced technicians travel across Australia to share their expertise and support clients through the process of marine engine solutions.  This is a small team comprising technical experts across diverse disciplines, working together to bring practical and smarter solutions to our niche customer base. The role is usually a Monday to Friday position, with flexibility, no shift penalties. 

• Customization of equipment to suit customer specifications  and marine societies’ requirement.
• Organizing and managing MEC project related day to day activities.
• Testing and troubleshooting equipment.
• Mechanical outfitting and workshop assembly.
• Upfit of 3rd party and aftermarket parts and equipment.
• Completing service orders, ordering parts and materials.
• Conduct pre-starts of equipment inspection onsite.
• Support project  delivery team and collaborate with other technicians as required.
• Support commissioning and technicians on sea trials as required.

About you

• Mechanical trade / Marine engineering background.
• Caterpillar trained or experience highly desirable. 
• Experience with mechanical assembly and or repairs / overhauls of diesel engines. 
• Ability to interpret Mechanical and P&ID drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams.
• Background and experience in operating and or repairing diesel power generation equipment.
• Sound knowledge of computer, Microsoft Suite and software systems.
• Ability to operate autonomously, self-driven, motivated, and well organised.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong and effective communication across stakeholders.
