The Opportunity
This position will see you sitting within the Corporate Affairs Department. Working closely with and reporting to the Team Leader Marketing and Communications, you will be assisting to develop and deliver on a range of communications plans and tasks, whilst providing support in implementing the strategic vision for various portfolios across the arts, culture, festivals and events in Moonee Valley.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Developing strategic communications plans for the department’s activities
- Developing and executing public relations and marketing campaigns for Council’s arts, culture, festivals and events
- Preparing copy, images and design for promotional materials
- Coordinating multiple advertising schedules and bookings to maximise reach, engagement and attendance for campaigns
- Developing and distributing media alerts and media releases
- Producing promotional print collateral including posters, postcards and flyers
- Developing design briefs and liaising with Graphic Designers throughout collateral production
- Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure briefs, deadlines and campaign timelines are met
To succeed in this position, you will have:
- Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications or equivalent work experience and skills in a similar position
- Strong understanding and experience with marketing and communications campaign management. In addition to WordPress, website and social media management and administration
- Strong knowledge of and experience with publishing packages including Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating the production of promotional collateral and rollout of multi-channel marketing campaigns
- Experience in the arts, culture, festivals, events or music industry advantageous

Selection Criteria Essential: 1. Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications; or lesser formal qualifications with equivalent work experience and skills in the Marketing, Public Relations or Communications field.
Essential: 2. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication plans and design briefs.
Essential: 3. Demonstrated experience in copywriting and developing media releases and speeches
Essential: 4. Demonstrated experience of social media communications, online communications and website content management systems.
Essential: 5. Demonstrated experience in coordinating the production of promotional collateral.
Essential: 6. An understanding of reporting and the analysis of audience data.
Essential: 7. High level communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, with experience in managing multiple stakeholders, projects and timeframes.
