About Us:
Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.
About the Role:
The purpose of the Marketing & Communications Assistant is to learn and provide support to the Marketing & Communications Officer to implement the Organisations communication/marketing strategies, build and maintain the online and media presence as well as conduct activities within the community.
This position will assist in the implementation of communication/marketing strategies to deliver key promotional activities and raise the profile of the Organisation in the wider community. Assist with the Organisation’s social media, website, newsletters and media activities under the guidance of the Marketing & Communications Officer.

About You:
You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and also have the following:
- Possesses a minimum Senior Secondary Certificate year 10 or equivalent.
- Be willing to participate in future marketing training to grow your career with Bidgerdii.
- Demonstrate a high level of written communication skills and literacy.
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- An interest in working in the Marketing, Digital Media, or Information Technology industries.
- Willingness to show initiative and receive training from experienced mentors, receive feedback.
- An awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues, particularly in the health area which are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Effective and confident interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work proactively as part of a team and independently to meet deadlines coupled with an attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Practical Requirements:
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential
- Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, COVID19 and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
- Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
