About the role:
The Communications Specialist is a passionate communicator, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can identify, generate and disseminate key communication pieces across a range of internal and external channels. With proven experience in a similar role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality communications to tight deadlines, across internal and external communication channels, and providing PR and crisis management support. The ideal candidate will be self-managed and have experience in quickly developing and nurturing a wide range of stakeholder relationships.
About you:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Bachelor of Communications/Journalism and at least five years’ experience in a similar position.
- Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality communication pieces for a range of stakeholders under tight time constraints.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively responding to unfolding issues and crises both independently and in a team environment.
- Detailed knowledge of the current media landscape with relevant contacts and the ability to identify opportunities and manage media coverage.
- Ability to work in an environment with constantly changing priorities and multiple client demands.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work productively with a range of stakeholders including senior management, staff, clients, media outlets, contractors and others.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor online and traditional media to identify potential issues and industry trends and to formulate responses outside of normal business hours on an on-call basis.
- Relevant probity checks required by legislation and Wesley Mission Queensland policy.
- Willingness and ability to work within the Philosophies, Policies and Procedures of Wesley Mission Queensland and the Uniting Church in Australia.
