The Role
Defence is looking to recruit highly motivated individuals with logistics experience, transferable skills and strong leadership qualities to join our Materiel Logistics team.
Under broad direction, the role undertaken by an APS 6 in Materiel Logistics for Defence includes the following:
- Accountable to coordinate planning capability requirements and forecast future inventory needs to enable preparedness and support Defence supply activities.
- Develop, maintain and implement logistics data management plans, processes and procedures that support supply management.
- Provide advice and support to the supply management team applying materials requirements planning and inventory management with information management systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current Defence logistics policies and apply this when undertaking Supply activities.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve supply and support issues.
- Analyse supply chain data and resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of actions.
Note: These positions may be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
About our Team
We are recruiting in an exciting time for Defence across a range of positions in Materiel Logistics between three Groups:
- Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG): CASG exists to meet the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) military equipment and supply requirements. CASG manages a multi-billion dollar portfolio of complex, high-profile acquisitions and sustainment activities supporting armed forces.
- Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Group (GWEO): GWEO’s mission is to deliver an Enterprise with a focus on domestic manufacture, long-range strike and uplifting our war stocks enabling the Australian Defence Force, in competition and conflict.
- Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG): NSSG is responsible for delivering and sustaining Australia’s naval capability – the ships and submarines – for Australia to be able to fight and win at sea.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills to draft correspondence, briefs and reports, with excellent attention to detail

- Understands integrated logistic principles to develop, advise and review materiel logistics plans
- Utilise inventory management systems
- Demonstrate leadership within immediate work area and through stakeholder networks
You will be considered as a Supply Officer, Inventory Officer, Materiel Requirement Planner, Logistics Officer, Integrated Logistics Support Officer or Integrated Logistics Support Practitioner within Materiel Logistics.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth (in no specific order).
